Christmas with Family

-

This will definitely be an exciting Christmas! And that’s not all. The family will be celebrating birthdays in Singapore as well. My mom and dad will be arriving on my mom’s birthday (6 December), and the day after that is my dad’s birthday. And the day after that is Nino’s birthday. And the day after the day after the day after my mom’s birthday is my supposed birthday (9 December).

-

And that’s not all! We will be having our new year in Hong Kong as well!!! Wohoo!!!

-

This will also mark my 3rd year in Singapore, and my 10th year in the service industry.

-

Happy Holidays!

Act Smart Buay Smart

-

I really don’t know why there are people who like to act smart. They like to tell others what to do, and make things more complex.

-

There’s this fellow in office who wanted to be labelled ’smart guy’. But no matter what he does, he can’t impress me. And at times, I’m annoyed by what he’s doing.

-

One time, I was clearing emails inside store room, this fellow came up from nowhere and stood at my back. He was giving me instructions on what to do as if he’s more senior than me. Yeah, right. If only I could tell him ‘You’re just another asshole!’.

-

Maybe I guess there will always be assholes in this world, and we can’t help it.

Are you a Filipino?

-

Are you sensitive to comments about your race?

-

It’s a natural fact that our population is very large, and it’s unavoidable for many of us to work as maids, nurses, midwives. So we can’t blame others from stereotyping us as such. I think it’s ok to have a national pride and everything, but not to the extent that we are not able to adapt to reality.

--

For example, there’s this nice youtube video made by a Chinese Singaporean about a maid portraying Imelda Marcos, you can see that a lot of Filipino viewers left hateful remarks there. There’s this paranoid thinking that we’re being degraded. What’s going on?

-

Fortunately, educated Filipinos know how to react on these issues.

-

We’re making fun of other races, but we don’t want to be laughed at. Life should be fair. There will always be negative and constructive comments about us, and I don’t mind hearing any of these.

-

Most Filipinos hate being stereotyped as maids. We can’t deny the truth. Anyway, Filipino maids are still Filipinos and I don’t see the reason why they should be seperated from our society.

-

I hope next time something happens, most of us will respond in an educated, civilised manner.

-

Mabuhay!

When you can’t beat the odds

When you can’t beat the odds.

-

You just need to follow one rule, ‘Never harm yourself!’.

-

There will be a point in time when you’ll be so down that no one can help you. Not even yourself. But no matter what choices there may be, choose something that won’t destroy you in the future.

-

It’s an advice based on experience.

-

Cheers!

2 to 4 pm : The most boring time of the day

2 to 4 pm : The most boring time of the day

-

During this period, it’s either I’m sleeping, or I’m yawning in front of a customer. It’s the time of the day when you can’t even go out cos it’s to hot outside. It’s also the time when you usually get hungry when you haven’t had your lunch, right?

-

Coincidentally, I’m writing this blog about this whole thing.

-

Usually, at this point in time, I’m just sound tripping, or maybe I’m just watching funny videos from youtube. In some cases, I just play guitar and sing at the top of my lungs (hahaha).

-

What to do? (Dunno leh)

-

After this boring ‘2 to 4 pm’ period, there’s excitement! It could either be you’re about to huay cha (go home), or you’re preparing for your chiong in the evening.

-

Maybe that’s why there’s boredom, you won’t know how to cheer up if you don’t know how to be bored.

-

Actually, I was supposed to collect my NRIC at the immigration but I didn’t want the issue date to be 4th of October. So here I am, at home, trying to entertain myself the best I could.

-

I wish I have a lovelife (hahaha)!
